March 31, 2009
Finally March is here and winter is still hanging around in the Seattle Everett metro areas.
Slow start to the gardening season with snow and unseasonably cold weather through the entire month.
Today is March 31 the last day of the month and hope seems to around the corner?
Today the weather is sunny, windy. Thankfully the rain broke off early and the day is looking good.
Crocus are still out and about. Usually the bulbs are gone in late February. Daffodills are having a difficult time blooming. Saw the first tulips in Edmonds this morning at a lawn mowing estimate.
April starts tomorrow. The lawn mowing season will be picking up soon if the sun comes out and it warms up a bit. Grass loves it between 50 and 60 degrees.
We shall see.
If you are looking for a lawn mowing estimate you have come to the right place. Check out the TomsLawnMowing.com. There you can request a lawn mowing estimate via email. Fill out the form and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Have a great spring.
Tom

The month of November brings leaves and much more.
November is sort of a false spring for the Puget Sound area. The rains return and the temperatures are just right for some serious grass growing. Many people think the prime season for grass is the summer. Lawns in the Seattle Everett area do not like the hot sun. Most lawns dry out in the hot sun. Lawns prefer cooler wet weather that November brings. The temperature is almost perfect for lawn growth. In fact most lawns like the November weather so much they can really grown fast until around Thanksgiving or even into the first week of December depending on the year. Sometimes snow or cold weather ends the mowing season earlier.
Besides rapid growth of lawns there is an increase in mushrooms. This month features perfect conditions for not only the grass but a wide variety of “shrooms” dotting the landscape.
Leaves really start to fall fast right after Halloween. The first week of November can see lots of Maple and other leaves. Leaves keep falling until the Alders drop sometimes in late December. Removing the leaves from the lawn is important. Compacted leaves on a lawn can kill off the grass below.
Removing leaves from the gutters and drains along the street and around homes and businesses is good to do. Leaves can compact in drains causing local flooding.
November is a busy month. Fast grass growth, rain, leaves, and short daylight hours pact a punch for the landscape industry.
